Baptisms, Weddings & Funerals

Here at First Presbyterian Church, we are grateful for the chance to walk alongside one another in life and in death, in joyous times and in times of grief.

For occasions such as baptisms, weddings and funerals, special planning is often required to ensure that you and your family are given the highest quality of care.

Please contact the church office or speak to the pastor to talk more about planning for these important events.

Baptisms

We rejoice in the chance to celebrate the sacrament of baptism together. Baptism in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is open to both adults and children. The baptism of children witnesses to the truth that God’s love claims people before they are able to respond in faith. All baptisms must be authorized by the session and administered by a minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).

Weddings

The gift of love is a gift from God, and we celebrate the chance to honor that gift through marriage. Weddings at First Presbyterian Church are officiated by our church pastor and must be authorized by our church’s session. Please contact the church office to take the next step in planning your wedding.

Funerals

The time of death can be a time of great stress for individuals and loved ones. First Presbyterian supports individuals and families through all of life’s transitions, including the death of a loved one.  Our Christian theology shapes not only our beliefs about death, but also how we celebrate the life of the one who has died. The name of the service on the occasion of death is The Service of Witness to the Resurrection, reflecting our fundamental belief that, in Christ, death has been conquered, and the promise of eternal life is affirmed.
